Kah gets the Benedetta ride in The Goodwood

Jamie Kah is the new rider of the Jason Warren-trained Benedetta in the $1m Group 1 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville next weekend.

Kah replaces Daniel Stackhouse aboard the Sangster Stakes placegetter, with Stackhouse now the rider of Stretan Angel.

Stackhouse replaces Damien Lane, who will ride star WA mare Amelia’s Jewel, aboard the Phillip Stokes-trained galloper who will back up alongside stablemate Climbing Star in the feature.

Stretan Angel was beaten 2.9 lengths behind Climbing Star in the Group 1 Sangster Stakes which followed on from her luckless second behind Sir Sway in the Listed Redelva Stakes.

Craig Williams has jumped off Hawkes Stakes placegetter What You Need to continue his association with the Ciaron Maher-trained Bella Nipotina with Ben Melham to partner What You Need for the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable.

Kent Jnr said What You Need was horse who deserved his shot at a Group 1 sprint.

“We’re so proud of him for what he’s been through, he’s so genuine and tries his heart out,’’ Kent Jnr said on the Front Runner Podcast.

“He was going to be a Group 1 sprinter there is no doubt about it, unfortunately he had a throat operation which has curtailed his potential.

“We’re hoping he sneaks in the field, if he does Ben Melham will ride.

“Benny loves the horse, he knows the horse so well, he’ll have to step up again but his two runs back from a long lay off have been progressive and he’s definitely building towards a peak performance,’’ he said.

Todd Pannell has secured the ride on Vilana for the James Cummings stable.
