Port Augusta’s central location sees it as the heart of horse racing in the Spencer Gulf.

The majestic Flinders Ranges provide a spectacular backdrop to the Port Augusta racecourse and its facilities make it a premier site for racing.

The Elders Room, Hannahville Hotel Betting Ring, Hardy’s Bar and the historic grandstand are just some of the great facilities at the Port Augusta race course, which comes alive when racing hits the 2100m track.

Thousands flock to the annual Port Augusta Cup in July which is always a day of great racing action, fashion and fun. Port Augusta’s mild winter weather, fantastic location and great track always make this a much anticipated social event.

The Elders Family Day is a successful event on the Port Augusta Racing Club calendar and is a great day out for families, with plenty of activities for adults and children of all ages.

The Port Augusta Racing Club has a long and proud history, with its first race meeting held in 1881.

In 2011 the club will celebrate 130 years since racing began in the then outback shipping port of Port Augusta.

There are two levels of membership on offer – Gold and Silver – and a great value Season Pass is also available.
