SA Trainers Hit Flemington for Melbourne Cup Day

There is going to be a huge South Australian training contingent hit Flemington tomorrow for Melbourne Cup Day. Eight South Australian trainers will have runners at Flemington on Cup Day with jockeys Jamie Kah and Dom Tourneur joining them across the border in the saddle.

Tony McEvoy

Race 1 - Aristocratic Miss, Lake District Girl and Roobena

Leading trainer Tony McEvoy has three runners in the first race on Cup Day and the three fillies are all race debutants. Aristocratic Miss won her only trial last month at Morphettville while Lake District Girl has been to the trials twice for two seconds and the unseen Roobeena will be ridden by superstar Hong Kong based jockey Zac Purton.

Race 3 - Dollar for Dollar, Fox Hall and Manuel

Dollar for Dollar is gunning for a hat-trick of wins and will be ridden once again by leading Adelaide hoop Jamie Kah. Stakes winner Fox Hall is in some great form with one win and two seconds from his last three starts while Zac Purton rides Manuel who is also in good form with two wins from his last three starts.

Race 8 - Brown Ben

The super consistent galloper Brown Ben will be hoping his good Listed form can continue tomorrow after a win and two placings in his last three Listed races. South Aussie Jamie Kah will ride the five-year-old gelding.

Race 10 - Cool Passion

Another McEvoy horse who has been in great form is Cool Passion. A victory in the Group 3 Northwood Plume at Caulfield was followed by a close second in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes.

Gary Searle

Race 2 - Lady Silhouette

The Gawler Cup winner heads across the border for the second time in her career and will look to cause an upset for Gawler based trainer Gary Searle. She has been in great form of late and gets the services of Luke Nolen.

Phillip Stokes

Race 3 - Boggoms

Ran on well in his last start at Caulfield behind Steel Frost and has only missed a place three times in his fourteen start career. Dom Tourneur jumps aboard and he has won three times on the Stokes trained gelding.

Race 6 - Counterplay

The talented filly has been a touch unlucky in her last three starts across the border and she will get the services of the 'Magic Man,' Joao Moreira on Tuesday. She's only missed a place once in her career and should get a nice run from barrier five.

Race 8 - Captain Duffy

With a few scratchings, Captain Duffy has gained a start in the Listed James Boags Stakes. He's won two on the trot now and both times has carried some big weight. He will appreciate only having to carry the 54kg with Noel Callow aboard. Has a Listed win to his name.

John Hickmott

Race 4 - Flying Casino

The Murray Bridge trained eight-year-old returns to Flemington where he ran thirteenth in this race last year. He is in good form with one win and five placings to his name from his last eight starts.

Ryan Balfour

Race 8 - Balf's Choice

The Ryan Balfour trained gelding has had an amazing preparation with six wins from nine starts, two of those at Listed level including wins in the Balaklava and Seymour Cup's. Great news that the in-form Kerrin McEvoy is set to ride him after Kidmenever was scratched from this race.

Peter Blanch

Race 8 - Jim's Journey

The Stakes winner has returned from a spell in pretty good form with placings in two Listed races both times with Dom Tourneur in the saddle. He'll only have to carry 54kgs on Tuesday and has been placed at Flemington before.

Lee Creek

Race 9 - Casino Wizard

A seriously underrated galloper from Mount Gambier, Casino Wizard has now amassed over $500k in prizemoney and was placed in his last run behind Lope De Capio at Listed level. He has a fantastic 18:7-1-5 record over the 1200m and was only a length off Vega Magic in the Group 1 Goodwood in May.

Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas

Race 9 - So You Too

The Macdonald & Gluyas galloper has enjoyed his time in Melbourne this spring, winning at Moonee Valley on Moir Stakes night and finished two lengths off Saturday's Group 2 winner Rich Charm. Has only missed a place once at the 1200m and has Zac Purton aboard tomorrow.
