An early look at Morphettville - 17th August

James Jordan from Racing.com has provided us with an early look at racing at Morphettville for Saturday August 17.

Race 1 No.2 - Egyptian Gold

I like this mare out to the 1600m for the first time this preparation. Her win last start on the Ballarat Synthetic track was strong, although she didn't beat much. She maps forward, which is nearly always a positive, and this isn't an overly strong race with the two dangers being Going Gaga and Marina, who are both coming off average runs seven days ago. Marked her $2.70, she's currently $2.90 with Topsport.

Race 2 No.8 - Jaguary

He's done nothing wrong in his three Australian starts to date. His provincial wins were both strong and the run in between at metro level was the run of a horse looking for 2000m. He is out of the handicap in this field but with the claim I think he's still got enough upside to win this. Happy to take the $6 on offer at present.

Race 3 No.3 - Kemalpasa

Punters are often guilty of avoiding the obvious and trying to make cases for obscure results. I'm going to take this race at face value and go with Kemalpasa. He's a winner, he's racing well and he should push forward and be in a striking position. Social Spin is resuming and can be slowly away whilst Tequila Time is coming off a plain run and still hasn't proven he's back to his 2YO form. I'll play the percentages and back Kemalpasa Best Of The Best.
