Lincoln Moore's Saturday Preview

BEST BET: More Than Ever (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: Aten (Race 9)

VALUE: Li’l Hank (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 12:36PM Adelaide Galvanising Two-Year-Old Plate (1050 METRES)

GULF OF SUEZ was impressive on debut here, leading throughout to defeat Bolsonaro. He’ll take some beating with benefit of racing experience. His stablemate CAPITAL RAIDER had some support at a price when he led and was beaten seven lengths at Moonee Valley on debut. He draws well and can ride the speed here. JIMMY’S EDGE showed solid improvement when winning his second jump-out at Morphettville. Stablemate STRATISFACTION has also jumped out pretty well twice leading up to his debut. He ran to the line alongside BLERIOT who showed improvement from his trial behind boom gelding Brazen Boy in October. ZAKYBREE was very green in a recent Gawler jump-out. LAST ZERPRISE trialled well behind Short Stories.

SELECTIONS: GULF OF SUEZ, Capital Raider, Stratisfaction

RACE 2 - 1:11PM TAB Handicap (2500 METRES)

The scratching of Andrea Mantegna only gives me more confidence that MORE THAN EVER gets his chance here back to winning form. Back on the outer track, he made ground behind Andrea Mantegna last time and should love the extra trip and bigger track. Weight is the big worry here with HASTA LA FIORENTE, a progressive stayer who was rated well in front to score last time. He’s likely to roll forward and sure to give a sight, the scratching of the top weight probably enhances his claims as he might be able to find the lead. CHAROSSA is going well and draws a nice gate, while POET’S LANDING has been in the market in some OK races and his best would be competitive in this. GALAHAD GURU is an improving stayer but up sharply in class on last time.

SELECTIONS: MORE THAN EVER, Hasta La Fiorente, Charossa

RACE 3 - 1:46PM Soul Growers Handicap (1100 METRES)

ALLEBOOM is a smart colt who has speed to burn and an inside gate. The only worry would be his big weight. He was too sharp for rivals over 1000m on the Parks three starts back, bombed when ridden off the speed, but was back to his best down the Flemington straight last time. He might be vulnerable late but he’s impossible to tip against. IDEAS MAN is an interesting runner first-up for David Jolly. He ran in the Blue Diamond in February behind Tagaloa and did beat Bella Nipotina when winning the Inglis 2yo at the Valley last October. SHOW SOME DECORUM brings some good form lines here. He was runner-up behind Deep Speed at the Valley tow back and solid last time there behind Nicolini Vito. SIYAADEH is a progressive type who was good winning back in class, while KIRINIA was very good first-up from a spell when ridden off the speed, before battling last time.

SELECTIONS: ALLEBOOM, Ideas Man, Show Some Decorum

RACE 4 - 2:21PM Twilight Races at Morphettville - Friday Dec 18 Handicap (1600 METRES)

FAROOQ was very good first-up from a spell back in class and was game behind Magnetic Edge on the Parks track last time. Getting back on the bigger track looks ideal, the wide gate helps him being a big horse and he’ll give this a shake. DIVANATION hasn’t been seen for more than a year and she is a progressive mare who is going to be effective over a lot further, being a daughter of Makybe Diva. She has trialled well at Murray Bridge, has blinkers on and could run a cheeky race fresh. PEARL BANDIT has been up a while but is still racing well and was game behind Ritratto last time out. He loves the bigger spaces of the outer track and is sure to be thereabouts. RAISE AN ARMY has been progressing well under the care of Shayne Cahill and is worth some thought. BLACK SYRAH has a good record, won well first-up at Penola and should get a nice run from the inside.

SELECTIONS: FAROOQ, Divanation, Pearl Bandit

RACE 5 - 3:01PM Furphy Handicap (1800 METRES)

Not a race I’m super keen on. SERIOUS SPENDER was easy in betting, settled a long way back and made good ground behind City Beats last start. Getting back to the outer track looks ideal, but back in trip not so much. The claim and the good gate are pluses. Stablemate AFRICAN AWESOME was a good winner at big odds when back in class. He’s a horse who looks a promising staying type and is progressive. CITY BEATS showed some fight to hold off rivals on the Parks track last time out. BACK POCKET is going to win a similar race sooner or later. He finished off strongly last time in the race won by CITY BEATS and will appreciate the outer track. SKILLFUL STEPS was thereabouts last time behind Diamond Tycoon, but has never won beyond a mile. CAMPOBASSO is improving with racing here in SA but has plenty of weight and his best form is all on heavy tracks.

SELECTIONS: SERIOUS SPENDER, Back Pocket, African Awesome

RACE 6 - 3:41PM Accolade Wines Handicap (1100 METRES)

LANCASTER SOUND was too smart for Nic’s Secret here last time out. He’s lightly raced, draws a good gate and sure to be right in the finish. FOUR OF A KIND was well backed and finished off strongly when she found clear air to be beaten just over a length behind The Raven. She draws well and won’t be far away. Stablemate CILIATA wasn’t far away in the same race and also draws to be in the mix. BEEOKAY maps to get a good run here from barrier four and is never far away, while SIDESTREET draws the inside and should get a lovely run. TWO ODD SOX should appreciate getting to the outer track and ISSARA was a good winner first-up (and the Jon O’Connor stable is going well).

SELECTIONS: LANCASTER SOUND, Four Of A Kind, Two Odd Sox

RACE 7 - 4:21PM Roadside Services City Of Marion Stakes (1200 METRES)

Looks a race with plenty of speed. SAVATOXL was impressive when spearing to the front last time out and is sure to come across from a wide gate and again make the speed. ONE MORE JACK is a good horse who loves a fight. He’s drawn gate two and likely to be in the speed battle early. I’m a big wrap for LAKHANI ROSE, just not sure how she’ll handle the inside gate. She’ll get a nice run but could be beaten for speed and need some luck in the straight. However, she’s got upside and is a very backable price. TOO GOOD TOO HARD is lightly raced and caught the eye behind Fiesta at Group 3 level last tune. She draws wide but should love the genuine speed that’s likely up front. DEBT COLLECTOR is another who will thrive on a hot tempo. He draws a good gate and is more than capable in a race like this. KENYAN WONDER was good winning two starts back before she was run off her feet last time. I REMEMBER YOU ran well first-up in SA and is worth following in a race like this. TRIP is flying but this is a big rise in class.

SELECTIONS: TOO GOOD TOO HARD, Lakhani Rose, One More Jack

RACE 8 - 5:01PM Peter Elberg Funerals Handicap (Heat Two of the Alcopop Series) (1600 METRES)

Open race and that’s reflected in the market. STAN THE CADDY draws out but that should suit him and he hit the line strongly behind Masterati last time on the Parks track. TIGNANELLO was good winning at Murray Bridge last time out but this is a step up in class. I’ve got some time for KYSHAKA who wasn’t far away first-up and is sure to appreciate getting out on the bigger track here. LI’L HANK ran really well from back in the field behind Masterati last time. CASHIN’ CHEX is a promising type who was too good for Noname Lane last time and draws to get a lovely run from barrier two. WYLIE OL’ COYOTE is racing well, as is RAPID RAISER.

SELECTIONS: LI’L HANK, Kyshaka, Stan The Caddy

Race 9 - 5:37PM Winning Edge Presentations Handicap (1200 METRES)

ATEN would be hard to beat on his best. He was beaten just 2.4 lengths by Loving Gabby in the Group 3 Champagne at the Valley last September. His form last campaign was OK and he’s trialled well for his first-up run. He gets blinkers off and a good barrier. TULLY’S GOLD, like his trainer Ryan Balfour, is going super and he made it successive wins when too good for Bajan on the Parks track last time out. He has a good gate and Todd Pannell in the saddle – that will carry him a long way in a race like this. HEARTY LASS is drawn out but sure to put herself in the action. She was good beating Oh Please Dianna two starts back before a solid effort behind Trip. If she can work across without working too hard she’ll be in this for a long way. DAMASCUS MOMENT is only lightly-raced, having won four of nine, and did win a recent Penola trial for his return. He did win his only start here over 1100m and pay to keep him safe. LA VITA is going super and flashed home to be narrowly beaten here last time. She draws out will be running on. JUST CHIPPING AWAY is going well and must be respected in a race like this.

SELECTIONS: ATEN, Tully’s Gold, Hearty Lass
